The meeting was called to order by Sally Henderson at 1:30. The agenda and support documents were distributed. The agenda was revised to include scheduling of meeting for the remainder of the semester. It was suggested by Dr. Henderson that the meetings precede the FC Executive Committee meetings on Sept. 30, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2. Lionel Raff suggested that the meetings begin at 1:00. Both suggestions were approved and Jan Carlson volunteered to arrange location(s) for the meetings.*
Dr. Henderson reported on the Health Insurance meeting of Sept. 20, with Brian Maddy, et al, from OU. She distributed the comparison chart distributed by Mr. Maddy as well as supporting documents from a previous meeting this summer and a article concerning alternative health care plans. Discussion about details of the OU plan resulted in the following: Brad Bays volunteered to survey a few contacts who work at OU, to get their opinion of the plan's performance; Jean Van Delinder volunteered to further research other health care options; Sally Henderson volunteered to search for a list of current physicians working with the OU plan.
The issue of the retirement situation was briefly discussed and recommendations of the University R&FB task force on retirement were noted as being "a good job" by Dr. Raff.
In consideration of the resolutions and recommendations of the retirement and flex/fringe benefits of the Staff Council and Univ. wide R&FB, Dr. Henderson suggested that this committee may wish to support them or work with them to clarify/modify to be inclusive of faculty. To initiate these, Sally Henderson suggested a meeting with the other R&FB committees or their chairs. It was agreed that this would be a good idea.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:15.
Respectfully submitted Sept. 30, 2002
